Outstanding learners and amazing explorers!
We have had three thrilling weeks in Orion class starting our
topic about explorers, as we have started to read ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine
Rundell. Thanks to a reptile loving explorer who recommended the book to us. We
are really enjoying the story so far although “Our teacher keeps leaving us on
the Cliffhangers,” we can’t wait to read on.
In this roller-coaster of a week, we have continued our
learning on fabulous fractions. We have been ordering and comparing fractions
with Harry (a made up confused explorer) who said “if the numbers on the
fraction are bigger then of course the fraction is bigger!” However we
disagreed with Harry, by proving he was incorrect using models, drawings and
changing our denominators so that they are the same. We have also enjoyed
sequencing fractions on a number line.
In energetic English, we have ‘taken flight’ with our relative
pronouns (for example who, which, whose, whom, that, where and when). We learnt
all about how to use these then we wrote sentences and paragraphs about a film
called Taking Flight which was liked to our topic on Explorers. Our teachers
were really proud of the writing that we did and were really impressed with the
correct use of relative pronouns.
We have been very creative this week producing Popping Pop Art
Pictures which are now proudly on display hanging in our classroom. Our head
teacher thought they looked amazing when she came to visit us this week! Please
feel free to come and have a look at them.
Joke of the week –
Which day do Fish hate?
Fry-day!
We hope you have enjoyed reading our blog this week,
