An ‘Egg’cellent week!
We have had an enjoyable week especially today as we are in
non-school uniform and have bought in lots of lovely chocolate. Thank you for everybody
that has donated! We have also started to prepare for our Greek Museum
afternoon, which we are really excited about and hope that you can join us. A
letter will be on the way next week.
One Orion class member says “This week in English, we have
been learning about co-coordinating and
subordinating conjunctions to link clauses. At first, we found this tricky but
now we are really understanding, how to use them in our writing.” After that,
we watched the Pixar film called ‘lifted’ and then did some writing about it to
show our teachers that we can use, FANBOYS and I SAW A WABUB. If you aren’t
sure what this means, just ask us!
In Maths, we have finished our topic on division which some of
us found tricky to start with. We all ‘persevered’ and we are all feeling much
more confident! As a result of mastering division Miss Aston started to teach
us about fractions. One Orion class member said “we all worked as a team to
tell Bob the Alien from Outer-Space what a fraction actually is, using
resources and our fantastic explanations.” Although Bob was sad to leave us, we
think we have sent Bob back to space as an expert fraction mathematician.
This week, we have been continuing investigating marvellous
materials and mixtures in Science, we have been learning how materials and
mixtures are separated in the classroom and in real life. We carried out our
own experiment to separate the mixtures; we used equipment and decided which
tool was best for the job, we being really careful to ensure that we had a fair
experiment! Another Orion class member would like to tell you about the words
we have learnt “these were dissolve, solution, mixture, soluble and insoluble.”
Joke of the week –
Where do chimps get their gossip from? – The ‘ape’ vine!
We hope you have enjoyed reading our blog this week,
Orion Class
